What prescription can you cart for a congested chest?

I've got a cold and the solely thing that hurts right presently is my chest. It feels exceedingly tight and really hurts anytime I cough. Does anyone know of any medicines I could give somebody a lift to make the tightness/cough turn away? What prescription can you cart for a congested chest?
Guaifenesin --- also sold under brand identify Mucinex or Robitussin. It will loosen chest congestion right now!! Great stuff. Stay away from cough SUPRESSANTS, they will hold on to the junk contained by your chest. You need an EXPECTORANT to minister to it come out. Also a trip to the doc if it doesn't clear up in a couple of days.
Over-the-counter cough suppressants that contain dextromethorphan may serve stop the coughing.
The tightness in the chest can be relieved somewhat by inhaled bronchodilators resembling Ventolin, but colds are of course self-limited and the symptoms should travel away in ten days or so.
