What's wrong beside my ear?

Yesterday, the bottom of my ear started hurting and I felt of it and I feel a big huge knot contained by my ear like a big huge zit. I tried popping it but it hurt too impossible. My mom told me to leave it alone or it will find infected. Today it hurts worse and it is bigger. What should I do to get rid of it?What's wrong beside my ear?
It may be a boil or a cyst. Do not poke at it as your mom said. Try putting a luke melt face towel on for a few minutes at a time - it may surrounded by courage it to drain.
